Educational EffortsOne of our main efforts in running the cafe is to provide board games as an alternative to cyber gaming, especially among youths. We firmly believe that board games can serve well both as a tool to enhance critical thinking and creative solving as well as a platform to promote human interactions and communications. Thus, we are making special efforts to promote board games to students.
Examples of past events that De Coder's Cafe has involved in are as follows: 1. SIM Young Entrepreneur Network 'Battle of Apprentice' 2. NTU Annual Inter-School Recreational Games 2008 3. ACS (Independent) 7th Life Sciences Symposium 4. Setting up Board Games Corner for Xin Min Secondary 5. 'Get to the Point' Public Speaking Bootcamp @ SMU 6. Venue sponsorship to Ngee Ann Polytechnic Board Games Club 7. MENSA Board Games Annual 2008 8. Spring Session - Exoro Games 9. NUS Summer Exchange - Exoro Games 10. ACS (Independent) 8th Life Sciences Symposium 11. Venue sponsorship to Nanyang Junior College Strategic Games Club 12. NTU Gaming Lallapalooza 2009 13. NTU Entrepreneurship Fair 'Entreporium' 2010 14. ACS (Independent) 9th Life Sciences Symposium In addition, we also sponsored numerous educational institutions, clubs and hall of residences with vouchers and prizes for their orientation camps, annual dinner & dance, competitions and other events, particularly NTU, NUS and SIM. We are open to ideas and suggestions to promote board games as part of education means.
