Table Charge (for Peak Period only)

With effect from 1 Sep 2010, table charge will be applicable during peak period. Depending on the size of the table(s) allocated, you will be charged an additional $4 to $8 per table. However, rebate @ $1/pax is given to those who stayed and paid for a minimum of 2 hours gaming charge. Table Charge is implemented in hope of minimising table hogging in order to be fair to all patrons. Hence, please refrain from over-quoting the number of friends who may be joining you as you will be paying extra bucks for occupying the 'larger-than-required' table(s). Another reason for the implementation is to encourage patrons to stay a minimum of 2 hours for gaming instead of just an hour cos seriously one hour of gaming is undoubtedly not fun enough!! :)

On a similar note, the management would like to seek your cooperation when it comes to timing. Please refrain from exceeding your paid gaming hours as we charge based on the duration of stay instead of the number of games. We will not hesitate to issue a second receipt (even if you have settled the bill and supposed to leave) if you continue to stay beyond the paid time. It is the same logic as going for a 'Eat-all-you-can within an hour' buffet or a 15-min fish spa or 30-min foot reflexology etc. If your last game requires a bit more than 5 to 10 min time to finish, please extend your gaming package. It will be totally uncalled for to show unhappiness when prompted by our staff to end the game. Thank you for your thoughtfulness and understanding :)

SMU - De Coder's Cafe latest institution partner

With effect from 1 Aug 2010, Singapore Management University (SMU) will join us as one of our institution partners. Staff and students of SMU are entitled to 10% discount off Total Bill. For Students & Teachers Night on every Tue and Thurs, they will be charged @ $6 (U.P. = $8) for 4 hours of board gaming from 6pm to 10pm with free flow of soft drinks. For the month of Aug, there will be a 20% off Total Bill and 20% off purchase of selected games (namely, Monopoly Deal, Pictureka Card, Boggle Slam, Taboo and Pictionary) for all SMU staff and students.

'Book-In' Night: Book Sales + Staff Night

We heard so much about Members Night which happens on every Sun night, how about making one of these nights a special Staff Night for our ex-staff to 'report' in for reunion? This is the idea behind Book-In Night (aka Staff Night) :) If you do miss some of our ex-staff or wish to challenge them to some board gaming session, do turn up on 25 Jul 2010 from 6pm to 10pm (the last Sun of July). With effect from 1 Jun 2010, Young Men Christian Association (YMCA) will join us as one of our corporate partners. Staff and members of YMCA are entitled to 10% discount off Total Bill. Every Wed for Partners Night, they will be charged as partner's rate @ $6 (U.P. = $8) for 4 hours of board gaming from 6pm to 10pm with free flow of soft drinks. DE CODER'S PROJECT: 'STUDY HARD, PLAY HARD'

(Starts on 4 Jan 2010 - 1st Day of School)

Target Participants:

'STUDY HARD, PLAY HARD' is applicable to ALL Full-Time Students in our Local education scene. This does not include students from private institutions (e.g. MDIS, Informatics, British Council, International Schools, Overseas Universities etc).

Project Details:

'STUDY HARD, PLAY HARD' is available on Mon to Thurs, with the exception of Eve & Day of Public Holidays. All students are welcomed to study and do revisions at De Coder's Cafe from 2pm to 4pm: Study Time with their friends.  Thereafter, they are entitled to relax and play games from 4pm to 6pm: Games Time. It is absolutely FREE! No gimmicks or hidden charges!  Students are allowed to join anytime from 2pm to 4pm but not later than 4pm . Do come early to avoid disappointment as it is based on First-Come-First-Serve basis and NO reservations are allowed for this project. Please note that you will NOT be allowed to come just for the games only for this project, of course unless you are paying for one of our gaming packages :)

Project Objectives:

'STUDY HARD, PLAY HARD' aims to provide all students with a balanced lifestyle between learning and leisure. By studying and playing together with their peers, we also aim to enhance the social elements of cooperative learning and effective communication among the students.

Simple Rules & Regulations:

'STUDY HARD, PLAY HARD' is a pilot project of De Coder's Cafe with distinct objectives from what an usual board games cafe would do. We place great emphasis on the mental and social welfare of our students as we believe they will be the leaders of our future. We hope this project will be of significant success and many students can benefit from it so that we can continue with this project ..
